A great read with this caveat- the author spins a tale about a heroic and noble lieutenant who leads men who love and respect him against impossible odds. They care for each other, women, children and even their enemy. This requires some suspension of belief, given the nature of the warfare on the eastern front. But the strengths of the book are so many it far outweighs the more than favorable treatment of German soldiers. If you want to immerse yourself in the sounds, feeling , smells, looks, explosions , and blood just like it really happened, with brilliant descriptions of the Russian landscape and devastated cities- if you want to read fast paced descriptions of hand to hand combat, or want to feel the anxiety and adrenaline rush of battle during narrow escapes through freezing temperatures, the crump of mortars, the sounds of tank tracks, walk among crumpled and mangled bodies, or feel the burst of machine gun fire, then this book and author are for you. He is really one of the best I've read.Product details

A very good story about a group of axis soldiers trying to survive the Russian advance outside the city of Stalingrad. The soldiers are having to indur the brutal Russian winter while fighting their way back to the German lines in the city of Stalingrad.
This was a pretty good book. It was fiction based on reality and gives you a feeling of what it might have been like to be there.
The other side of glory, shown in a story filled with the truths of war. Pain,cold,wet,hunger,filth,misery and sadness coupled with fear and desperation. Bloody Iced Bullet grabs and forces you to see what real combat was and is still like.
I'm not much for historical novels, however Bloody Iced Bullet exceeded my expectations. The characters, plot and geographical details made it a great read. It made it seem as you were on the streets of Stalingrad with the German army! I'm looking forward to reading the other 2 books to complete the trilogy!
A excellent read from an author that I just took a chance on and won. I wish now that I saw the trilogy and bought that instead. Oh well, I am buying it now... The author does pay a lot of attention to detail for the time period and that battle. I truly enjoyed it. Now on to book #2!
